Thomas Rice, M.D.

Dr. Thomas Rice is a Minnesota native who graduated from St. Mary s College prior to completing his medical degree and ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He joined St. Paul Eye Clinic in 1993 and serves as head of the Professional Standards Committee.

A well-regarded and experienced laser and cataract surgeon, Dr. Rice has performed several thousand refractive and cataract procedures. He is VISX-certified to offer the latest refractive surgeries, including CustomVue Wavefront LASIK and PRK.

Dr. Rice is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has special interests in BOTOX injections for cosmetic facial rejuvenation , laser therapy for diabetic retinopathy, and comprehensive eye exams.

Dr. Rice operates at Midwest Surgery Center, Phillips Eye Institute, St. Paul Surgery Center and United and Children s Hospitals. He also sees patients and performs surgery in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.

Dr. Rice mentors medical students and residents from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He also has actively participated in meetings and committees for area health care organizations.
